Final Assemble

Mounting the Cobra Air Breather on the QuickFuel Carburetor required some modifications.

The breather comes with a 3/4 inch spacer.  This spacer must be notched to allow for the choke hinge points on the Quick Fuel Carburetor.

Notice the hinge points on the carburetor.

With the engine is mounted as high as possible and as far forward as possible the air breather will hit the hood as shown above.

What I prefer is for the air breather to sit in the middle of the air scoop as shown above.

In order to move the air breather forward, using a plasma cutter, I cut a rectangle out of the bottom plate of the breather as shown above.

This picture shows the plate after it was cut and before rotating the rectangle cutout.

And now after rotating the cutout.

Next I made an adaptor plate to be used to remount the cutout.

Using Cleco clamps to maintain alignment, I drilled several 1/8 inch holes to mount the plate.

After drilling all the holes, I bead blasted the plates and prepared them for powder coating.

Using silicone as a sealant between the plates I reassembled the plates together using 4-40 screws.
